Foundation For Cultural Review

The Foundation for Cultural Review publishes The New Criterion, a monthly journal of culture and the arts that was founded in 1982 by art critic Hilton Kramer and pianist and music critic Samuel Lipman. The magazine describes itself as engaged “in championing what is best and most humanely vital in our cultural inheritance and in exposing what is mendacious, corrosive, and spurious.” Julian Symons wrote in the Times Literary Supplement that The New Criterion “is probably more consistently worth reading than any other magazine in English.” The Mercer Family Foundation has provided more than $400,000 for the publication of The New Criterion since 2014.
